HUMILITY, THE HALLMARK OF TRUE CHRISTIANITY THURSDAY JUNE 8
TEXT: DEUTERONOMY 20: 19
Key Verse: “let nothing be done through strife or vain glory; but in loveliness of mind let each esteem other better than the themselves” Philippians 2: 32
Beloved, humility is the essential ingredient in Christian life which was central in the life and ministry of Christ. Jesus is God but made Himself of no reputation and took upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. A humble man thinks of God first, others second, and himself last. He carries the burden of others and does not get offended when others seem not to carry his own burden. Humility is having a contrite spirit and a broken heart. A humble person is a man of prayer because he does not depend on his own ability but relies solely on God. The opposite of humility is pride and pride goes before a fall. For God despises the proud but gives grace to the humble. Pride can manifest in different ways due to;
(1) Beauty. Satan was one of the moist beautiful creatures of God but he was carried away by pride and was cast out of heaven. Pride is the reason why people find it difficult to remove their jewelleries and worldly adornment. They think that they look ugly (2) pride can manifest due to riches and material possessions, which hinders one from total surrender to Christ. (3) pride can manifest in carnal mind where one will want to be wiser (4) Pride can also manifest in class distinction, where one cannot lower himself and associate with men of how estate because of education attainment, family background, social class and ethnic group. (5) Pride can manifest in speech where one tries to impress men in speech or preaching just to receive their applause. Brethren, we need to be humble by coming to Christ to learn of Him. If we want to receive more of the grace of God we need to be humble. If we want to enter the kingdom of God; then we have to be humble, be converted like little children. We should always ask God for mercy as a sign of humility and don’t be carried away by self righteousness.
Thought for the day: Anytime you take yourself as some body, you are nobody before God.
Song for the day: Unto Thee O Lord, do I lift up my soul. . . . . .

August Tuesday 27th TOPIC: CORRECT WATER BAPTISM TEXT: Mark 16:15-16 KEY VERSE: Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. The believer requires water baptism. The baptism that Jesus commanded is in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. It is done by immersion in water because the three Persons are One. In Acts of the Apostles, the people were baptizing in the name of Jesus. They used the phrase “in the name of Jesus” to indicate that the baptism was carried out as authorized by Jesus, and the baptism authorized by Jesus is that which is done in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. It is not to say that they dip people in water and say, “I baptize you in the name of Jesus.” The name of Jesus cannot represent the Godhead. The Father is not Jesus, the Holy Spirit is not Jesus, Jesus is God who be
