THE WORD OF GOD
SUNDAY JANUARY 15
TEXT: JEREMIAH 28:15-17, REVELATION 22:18-19
Key verse: “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him” Proverb 30:5.
Every word of God is pure, free from any mixture of error and falsehood. Every of its promises, doctrine, commandment, and prophecy is pure; every one of them is free from the mixtures and inventions of men. Our attitude while reading or hearing God’s word depends on whether or not you accept it as the infallible verdict of God, full and final in its declarations. God’s word is supreme to all the opinions and ideologies of men. Any addition or subtraction contaminates its declared purity and opens the way to errors and corruptions. The scripture retains its life-changing face and mighty power only when preached and believed in its pure, unadulterated form. As gold loses some value when mixed with dross so the word of God becomes of none effect, powerless to save anyone when mixed with the cheap, private interpretations of men. We must beware of the danger of adding or taking away from the word of God.
Most of the corruptions of the sacred scriptures have been caused by those who have professed some form of Christianity. Infidels have but little interest in attempting such changes and even if they tried they would not wield enough influence to make their errors received by the church. The most solemn of expressions are employed in warning believers against adding or taking away from the scriptures. “But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned….” The secret of preventing any deviation from scriptures is steadfastness in studying and obeying it. Continuation is the sure antidote to corruption, deliberate, disciplined and daily intake of God’s word has been a source of spiritual strength and succor to generations of Christians. Commitment to the scriptures means that we read it prayerfully, meditate on it patiently, pray on it perseveringly, and obey it in totality. We must not only rejoice in the promises but also tremble under the judgments and hasten to obey the commandments.
Thought for the day: Tremble under the judgments of the scripture and hasten to obey.
Song for the day: Forever, O Lord, Thy word is settled in heaven, it is settled in heaven…
Bible reading for the day:

August Tuesday 27th TOPIC: CORRECT WATER BAPTISM TEXT: Mark 16:15-16 KEY VERSE: Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. The believer requires water baptism. The baptism that Jesus commanded is in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. It is done by immersion in water because the three Persons are One. In Acts of the Apostles, the people were baptizing in the name of Jesus. They used the phrase “in the name of Jesus” to indicate that the baptism was carried out as authorized by Jesus, and the baptism authorized by Jesus is that which is done in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. It is not to say that they dip people in water and say, “I baptize you in the name of Jesus.” The name of Jesus cannot represent the Godhead. The Father is not Jesus, the Holy Spirit is not Jesus, Jesus is God who be
